The
year 1961 witnessed the birth of The Rajasthan Small Industries Corporation
Limited (RSIC), as a Government of Rajasthan Undertaking. And in 1975
RSIC was accorded the status of a Public Limited Company. It plays a major
role in promoting the handicrafts produced in the state. The Corporation
assists the craftsmen by providing them the designs and facilities for
marketing of the products. It has various training and design research
centres to enable the craftsmen keep pace with the latest trends in the
market, in the face of constant competition. Rajasthali, its showroom,
is an exclusive sales outlet with branches throughout India.
RSIC not only helps augment the income of the craftspersons, but also accords them their well-deserved recognition and honours them with various awards, up till the year 1996 69 Mastercraftsmen from Rajasthan have received National Award for their excellence in craftsmanship and contribution to the handicrafts field. |
